Fantazia band launch 2012
Photos by Michelle
Our guest blogger Michelle attended the Enchanted Forest launch on Saturday, and here are her pictures.
Michelle says Fantazia presented great costumes that featured various levels of coverage - mas players ranging from the super body-conscious to the not-so-shy are being accomodated! The various forms of monokini were a nice touch and the headpieces and waistbands are nicely detailed.
I like the design of the red monikini, the sparkly pink butterfly costume, the sexy leopard looking one, and the peach, purple & blue headpiece colours look pretty together.

TruDynasty 2012 band launch - The Best of both Worlds
Thea made an effort to stay true to her theme and once the names of the sections were announced and you looked at the costumes they made sense without being absolutely literal.
They put their own stamp on their costumes, you can see a similarity of design between not only all of the current sections, but also her past work. Specifically, I'm thinking of the bras and corsets from the soft and feminine Bliss and satiny green Envy.
Not only are the Heavenly's angel wings spectacular, but they are quite possible the first wings I've seen that moved well & the model carried herself wonderfully in them. I imagine that's what designers get ecstatic about, when a model is not only comfortable in the costume, but thrilled to be showing it, and makes it come alive.
I appreciate all that went into Adam & Eve's frontline, really like the styling of the Paradise bra, and Lucifer's fringe is nice. The frontline is stunning, not sinister - or maybe the model just looked happy. She had reason to be, it must be fun to play a hot devil.
The crowd at The Vue was interesting, not your usual launch crowd. There were band devotees and Caribana costume addicts, but there were also some crews that seemed to not be new to The Vue. An observation by some of us was perhaps much of the room didn't know soca or maybe even about Caribana, but that didn't mean they didn't enjoy the night. After the show, several girls jumped up on the risers, and danced and took pics with the models. By the looks of it, I'd say TruDynasty may have even captured some new masqueraders.
So, the question is, how will you decide... are you good or bad?

Black Sage 2012 launch
Black Sage's Amazon is certainly beautiful, with a colourful spectrum of jungle creatures coming to life on stage for us.
Some design elements I like are the feathered bras, and how the yellow & blue parrots look so wow, just lovely!! All the macaws are vibrant & fun, and look very well made.
I don't usually give (solid) white costumes a second glance, but this one is not the norm, the white is so crisp and the orange & green really make it stand out & shine.

I must say, there were some photogs there that were, I'm just going to say, bossy. Never experienced anything quite like that in all these years of attending launches.
Black Sage, you put on a nice launch, and Barney's was a great spot for it, too. People seemed relaxed drinking & eating in the bar area, shooting pool, and the separate room with the stage didn't have a frenzied vibe, it was just chill, a refreshing experience for sure.
They are yet to update their website: http://www.blacksagecarnival.com/home.html
