I want to see some Craziness!!!!!!
And he did! What to say about Machel Montano's performance? Crazy! Machel fans were certainly treated big time with his 90 minute performance as part of Carnivalissima on Sunday. The criminal, wining criminal ;-) brought the place into a frenzy with many of his hits...
It sure felt like all West Indians in the GTA were at Harbourfront Center yesterday.
Trini-in-Toronto representing.

ReplyDeleteI hoped from the pics you can tell just how exciting a time it was... a preview of what you'll see soon, CQ.
I gotta leave the house...!
Kara....I AM ANOTHER WITNESS!!!! it was a happening!!!! I arrived late (all my family have the true T'dad characteristics - dey go be late for dey own funeral!!) Anyhow we were right in front of the stupid drunken man on the roof of the sound booth - in the centre.
ReplyDeleteIt was a fantastic show!! MACHEL -regardless of his personal conduct is a true entertainer. I had a fabulous time - we wined, we jumped, we waved, we screamed, we sang with him and the whole crowd just rocked!!! In true Trini spirit - 'all ah we was one'!!
I now getting the spirit - next step is Carifete in Montreal on July 7th YEA!!!!
Scamp! Did you go to the camp? We did after, & Women of the Amazon is up, I took some pics for you, see below post... It looks nice, very full bra.
ReplyDeleteCarifete... hmmmm, whaddya say Buublenut & T-I-T?
Scamp,
ReplyDeleteWe have never made it to Montreal for Carifete, is it worth the drive? Where are you staying? If we could find some budget accomodations, our rubber arms could probably be twisted to make that lime. Any background info you have would be appreciated
I feel my arm being twisted :) Now I got something to goole while I am at work :) But budget accomodations is a must LOL
ReplyDeleteHi guys...about Montreal - I have family there...so it's a no brainer for me.
ReplyDeleteMontreal is different from TO. About 9 TT small bands & 1 TT big band and some Haitian bands in tee shirts and 'zouk' music - about 15 in all and it goes along just one long stretch of road - Rene Levesque Blvd in downtown Mtl. It's a median road so the bands goes down one side and the other side is for overflow people to jump if you want but you can also jump in with the bands as long as you get out when they reach the judging area then get back in after. It is much more casual that TO with lots of room and no pushing and shoving.(Montreal doesn't have a very large W.I. population.) It starts around 12 noon on Saturday and we jump up all the way down the road with different bands to old Montreal where there's a big picnic area with food etc. It takes about 4-5 hours and we move back and forth between bands. Shurwayne & Traffik are usually there and we go down with them then come back up the road and come down with the last band of the parade which is a steelband so we chip down the road to the end. The Mtl Jazz festival is usually on so we move onto that on the Sunday still in downtown Mtl.
It's usually a fun weekend for us taking in all that Mtl has to offer - bars, music, restaurants etc., plus some Trini fetes on the Saturday night (I've never gone to any as I always have other things to do so I can't really comment on how good they are)
I don't know any B&B's off hand but I will ask my sister to see if she knows of any but there are many many hotels in Mtl that are quite reasonably priced in the downtown area.
If my sis gives me any names - I will let you all know via this blog. I didn't get to go to the mas camp but I will this week. At this point even though I really like Women of the Amazon I don't know the section leader as they are new (out of Brampton, I think) - I am leaning towards Christine's costume Javari as she makes excellent costumes and gives them out EARLY. Big bonus point for that!!!! We'll see what happens. I am still a bit concerned about Dil-E-Nadan though - I hope they play well - I am going to talk to Louis about this seriously!!!
I did a quick google and there are 2 fetes the Saturday night, one with Iwer and Faye ann and some other people and another with Sherwayne and traffic. entrance is about $30.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I can see, you can get a room downtown with 2 double beds for about $120. So if it is 3 of us and we share one room for 2 nights it works out to about $100 per person. So if we walk with rum and eat at taco bell, we should be able to swing it for about $200 per person. What you all think?
Taco smell? Why we hafta eat there? Hah, that made me laugh reading that...
ReplyDeleteThanks 4 the info Scamp, & sounds like we're seriously considering it... we like to get to as many local carnivals as we can, so this would be cool...
So what you gonna say to Louis about Dil-E-Nadan? LOL!
Hubby's in Javari Scamp.
We will talk but it sounds do-able sans the Taco Smell ;) I rather pack sandwiches from home LOL
ReplyDeleteOH, jus because allyuh on the internet, allyuh frontin like yuh doh eat taco bell. Yuh know, last time I went down that side, I had this poutine with Montreal smoked meat ontop and I find it taste plenty similar to a fries supreame (minus the sour cream).
ReplyDeleteBuuble, will you be able to take off the Friday from Work? I think its about 5 to 6 hour drive, So I'm thinking to leave Friday morning and Leave Sunday Morning.
Tonight I'll look for some hotels and ask for scamps opinion
smoked meat poutine, yuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmm!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI doubt I can get any time of work - I just got back from TnT remember LOL :(
ReplyDeleteKara Torontolime put of pics and your are a millon times better :)
Buubs,
ReplyDeleteI'm really not feeling leaving Toronto at rush hour, and if we leave about 8pm, we might hit Montreal about 2am....pressure.
I looked at via rail and you could get a one way train ride to Montreal leaving T.O. at 6:35pm for $62 you could meet us and we could drive you back to Toronto. Thats if you REAL want to go. Otherwise we could overs it till next time.
Thanks, & not for nothin, but I agree, that's the 2nd event I think I took better pics (for detail) & I'm tellin ya, my camera has no zoom! LOL!
ReplyDeleteOk, the video is uploaded on facebook people, couldn't post it here, so check it out there. (my profile: Kara BK)

ReplyDeleteKarabana, Bubblenut & Trini-in-To - sorry that I have't been back on the blog re Montreal. Out of town on business. I still haven't got the name of the hotel that my niece stayed right downtown last year. However my sister said that she went onto www.hotwire.com and found the hotel there.
ReplyDeleteGood luck - hopefully I'll see you all there.
