Free Open Air David Rudder performance Tomorrow (July 6, 2012)

I know I have been taking a little break since the band launches finished, but things are starting to heat up and I have to get back on the bandwagon.
Friday July 6th, 2012 (Tomorrow) David Rudder will be giving a free open air performance at Mel Lastman square for 1 hour starting at 7:30 pm. I know its short notice but I just heard.

Also, Drew Gonsalves (From Kobo Town) will be performing at 7pm. If you don't know him, you need to know him, so make sure you reach down early. They sing a wicked fusion of calypso, mixed up with latin flavors and Jazz and it just sounds really good.

Some details can be found at http://culturafestival.ca/

See you there

Hi There,

First, I love your blog and have been following your comments for the past two years. Can you please recommend a post-Caribana fete that my wife and I can attend. I'm 39, she is 41. I will be playing 'mas with my sister with Saldenah while my wife looks after our son. This, however, will be my wife's first Caribana experience. I do want to take her out Saturday night but want to avoid the "ruffnecks" who might attend the clubs downtown. I trust your opinion and would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

Kevin, thanks for the words of encouragement. Now, my favorite fete of the year for our age group has been the big people fete at wild water kingdom usually held on the Sunday night after the parade. I can't see any flyers yet, so I'm not sure its happening. If you want to fete Saturday after the parade and you want to avoid downtown, then Soca or Die is happening at Wild water kingdom, bear in mind the crowd will be a mix of young and older, but you shouldn't feel out of place. Also Byron lee is having a fete at the double tree hotel that will attract a mature crowd and should be decent. On the Friday, Byron Lee is having a boat cruise which should be really nice(I'm partial to boats)
And Thursday is King and queen competition which is something you can take the kids to also.
You can get info for tickets on Toronto-lime

Yes, there will be Big People Fete on Sunday for $50 but also check ticketgateway.com for more info.

After reading your comments we'll probably attend the King and Queen show on Thursday, and maybe the Pan Alive show on Friday night. I love Byron Lee and so I'll see if my wife would to see him at the Doubletree.

Thanks for the advice!

anyword on other outlets (other than ticketgateway) where one can buy tickets for big people outdoor fete?

I can't see any other outlets yet, they haven't even published the lineup (that I can find)One thing though, if it is the gateway service charge that is holding you back, keep in mind that the $50 tickets are limited and once they are gone, the price increase will likely be more than the service charge.
