I couldn't figure out how to write any comments in the body of the post... I'm in finance, not IT. Anyway, we try to support the festival in all that we do here. There is a long history that can't be denied. We aren't trying to be negative or take sides. We can't just close our eyes.
This is supposed to be a forum for discussion, what you all think?
I'm not all the way educated on this topic but from what I see, the "loss" of Caribana is the fault of the organizers. Once the parade started generating revenue at an exponential rate, it was their job to have contracts put into place with the city that would specify the amount of $ that would be given back to the parade on an exponential basis. There should've been clauses put into place to protect the parade's ownership. The video honestly came across that people were bitter over something that they allowed to happen. They weren't organized and were not handling their business properly. I mean staff members taking books home the night before an audit? Seriously? Does that not sound fishy to anyone? I'm not saying that it's right but corporations would be foolish to not take of control of a million dollar event that is under bad leadership. Sorry if I rub people the wrong way with my honesty... But I honestly think the blame lies in the organizers. •shrugs•
On the flip side, we would love for the city of Toronto to do the right thing and give more money back to the event itself... But I can see how they would hesitate to do so if the organizers themselves are doing things like taking the books home and failing audits.
WELL SAID KRASSY...WHY CAN'T WE WORK TOGETHER...EVERY ONE SEEING $$$$$$ SIGN FLASHING AHEAD....SORRY CARIBANA PPL IT'S JUST AH NAME AND IT WILL BE CALLED THAT FOR GENERATIONS.... BYE FOR NOW
There is now talk of this order: Connections Blues C Fusion Fantazia Sally CNz TO Rev Tribal C Concept Creations Black Sage Mas TO Carnival Revolution D'Regulars
They've announced the parade is starting at 10:00 a.m.
