The Legend Leroy Sibbles to perform in Toronto

Leroy Sibbles is the Legend. The Jamaican-Canadian reggae musician and producer is coming home to Toronto to perform a rare Sunday afternoon concert!
Sibbles was the lead singer for The Heptones in the 1960s and 1970s and continues to perform around the US and the Caribbean. In combo to his work with The Heptones, Sibbles was a session bassist and arranger at Clement "Coxsone" Dodd's Jamaica Recording and Publishing Studio. Kevin O’Brien Chang describes him as “the greatest all-round talent in reggae history” in the1998 book Reggae Routes.
The Heptones were among the most prolific and influential groups of the rock steady era. Signature Heptones songs included “Baby,” “Get In The Groove,” “Ting A Ling,” “Fattie Fattie,” “Got To Fight On (To The Top),” “Party Time,” and “Sweeting Talking.” The group’s Studio One output has been collected on albums The Heptones, On Top, Ting A Ling, Freedom Line, and the more recent Heartbeat anthology, Sea of Love. After moving to Canada Sibbles has won a number of record awards including a Juno.
At the Sunday Jam Leroy Sibbles, the Hard Core band will back The Legend. Also performing will be Jay Douglas (founding member of the Cougars), Ossie D, Chester Miller & Elaine 'Lil'Bit " Shepherd. The M.C for show is Danae Peart, station manager of Toronto’s Vibe FM and DJ Henry of Henry’s Records.
