And it was Caribana no more. This was the first year the festival changed it's name. It was now known as Toronto International Carnival. (But you know how it goes, no one actually called it that.) We bought this collector's item 😉 zippered bag with only one part that opens. Never did find out what to use it for...

Taking out the flyer, it all comes back to me. I remember studying Steve Muradali's beautiful sketches, and part of the playing mas process for me was to imagine what the actual costumes would look like.
Atlantis The Lost Horizon was the theme. There were 12 sections, with names like Keeper of the Gate, Nectar of the Gods, Titan's Odyssey, Demigods of Thera, and what we chose, Mervyn's, Oracles of the Lost Horyzon. I loved those sketches, and couldn't wait for the prototypes to be displayed at the mas camp. Which came after you registered.

We were dripping in gold, lol! Gold lame at that! Oh wow, what a time. A sheer cape, the seahorse standard, and my Thai style headpiece. 💛
