Mas Toronto held their band launch at their mas camp, giving it a more of a relaxed blocko feel. Sponsors Hogan Chevrolet were set up providing test drives on their newest rides. Drinks were flowing, and food from Roti hut was on sale. Special entertainment by several Calypsonians included Macomere Fifi and Structure. At 9:00, the models hit the stage, with 6 sections representing All Things Beautiful.

My favourite is Passion for Red and Trini-in-Toronto likes Snowflakes. The butterfly wings are cute, and the feathery bra and headpieces in Hummingbird look good.

Mas' Toronto - Into D' Wild

Alicia & Errol Achue's Mas Toronto band launch was held at the Thornhill Community Centre. It was a fun production complete with an animated host & models who danced their mas. Mas Toronto's own featured "Chippendales" dancer also made his usual appearance & looks like he made good tips.

Flamingo is Karabana's favourite, from the fluffy cute headpiece, to the pretty bra, and slim, well designed waistband.

There's some great headpieces (particularly Warriors) and a variety of options, including some frontline or costumes with more coverage, like with Rainforest & Wildfire. Birds of Paradise come in black, yellow, blue and pink. Female costumes are $150 or $155 and males are $120. Their published website mastoronto.com hasn't been working.

Tribal Knights Aztec... a costume to watch this Caribana!

Caribana Official launch

Caribana Festival 2007 has officially launched downtown at Nathan Phillips Square on Tuesday. Politicians, sponsors and representatives attended the event, but the crowd was really there to check out the costumes.

Mas bands that participated were Bazodee Connection, Callaloo, Jessie Matthews, Toronto Caribbean Connection, Toronto Revellers, Scarborough Caribbean Sports Club, Mas Toronto, and Tribal Knights. Hummingbird Tassa Drummers and the Munthadi International Drummers were among the performers. Good to see Mervyn, Bootsman & Courtnay!
