David Beckham to squash Caribana?

Caribana in the news:

Beckham will be making his debut here on August 5, and there was concern it was competition for Caribana.

I don't feel it will detract from Caribana, which is a day later.

Viva Las Vegas

Visited Jamaal Maglorie & Toronto Revellers' mas camp to see their Viva Las Vegas Caribana costumes. The room displaying the costumes is small and narrow and entirely black. I find displaying the costumes on black mannequins really makes them pop. Jamaal was there to say hi and asked us if we needed any help.
This is Toronto Revellers second year and they went from #15 in 2006 to the number 3 spot on the road, very impressive.

Their website http://www.torontorevellers.com/ is not up yet.

Showtime

My favourite costume. The vibrant blue really stands out... soft feathers, shimmery ocean coins... I could love wearing this.

Show Me the Money

The very trendy multi strand seedbead necklace can be worn after Caribana, very nice. The jewels on the bra are a simple, yet pretty touch. Very fine beading hanging down off the waist band.

Several bands continue to improve on quality and pay closer attention to detail each year, resulting in stunning costumes. When you know you would love to wear a few costumes from a few bands, the designs are improving, making your decision more difficult!
From seeing the detail in these simply sexy costumes, I'd say Toronto Revellers is a contender for Band of the Year.

Petit Monde

We checked out Errol Achue Mas Toronto's costumes Petit Monde (It's a Small World). The mas camp is in a bright massive space with many of their years & years of costume photos on display. Errol greeted us hello and asked if he could offer any assistance. I found the seven sections to be made up of lovely colour mixes with cute, fun designs, & I especially like to see the representation of India.

Errol Achue secured the top spot, #1 on the road. All costumes are $125, and the band will take part in Hamilton Carnival August 11.
Their website http://www.mastoronto.com/ is coming soon.

I want to see some Craziness!!!!!!

And he did! What to say about Machel Montano's performance? Crazy! Machel fans were certainly treated big time with his 90 minute performance as part of Carnivalissima on Sunday. The criminal, wining criminal ;-) brought the place into a frenzy with many of his hits...
